A selection committee convened to select a Detachment Commander for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sault Ste. Marie Detachment. The committee was composed of the Mayors and Community Policing Advisory Committee (CPAC) Chairs representing the Township of Macdonald, Meredith & Aberdeen Additional and Laird Township as well as members from the OPP North East Region Command Staff.
The selection committee is pleased to announce that Staff Sergeant Michael Maville has been selected to fill the position of Sault Ste. Marie Detachment Commander effective May 31, 2016.
Staff Sergeant Maville has been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police since 2002 and brings a wide range of experience to his new position. He has served as a general patrol officer at the Chapleau OPP Detachment. Then went on to work in Sault Ste. Marie Drug Enforcement Unit, Superior East Crime Unit, Thessalon Detachment and the North Bay Drug Enforcement unit before being promoted to Sergeant in 2012 at the North Bay Provincial Communication Centre.
