On Tuesday July 12, 2016 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised of numerous thefts from motor vehicles in the Wawa area. Taken during these incidents were various items such as money, cell phones, credit cards, GPS unit, keys and luggage. The person responsible was able to gain entry to all motor vehicles as they were left unlocked.
Investigation conducted and evidence gathered by police led to the arrest of a male suspect.
As a result Daniel LINKLATER (27) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was arrested and charged with the following offences;
- 3 Counts of Adult Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
- 2 Counts of Adult Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(3) of the CCC,
- Adult Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the CCC.
The accused was transported to Sault Ste. Marie Ontario for a Bail Hearing.
