Friday night there were rows of clouds stretching from the south-west to the northeast in a very precise formation. This was ahead of the weather system that would bring rain to the Algoma District the next day. Wawa got well soaked, but in the Goulais River area the rain caused damage to highway shoulders and created severe ponding on Hwy 17 at Joseph’s Homestead. The ponding eventually lead to a river flowing over the highway and closed some of the lanes until the waters receded.
