November has been known also as Movember, an international movement to raise awareness for prostate cancer and other men’s issues.
“Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends face a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent.” – Movember Foundation
It really is not a joke that it is hard to get men to the doctor. It is difficult to get anyone there – but men are simply dying too young, and that can be changed. November recognizes that, and since 2003 they have funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world. They are addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
In the past TransCanada Chrysler has raised money by pledging their male staff to grow a moustache! This year they are hosting the Mustache Dash or “Stash Dash”.
This Saturday, November 19th, at 10:30 a.m. everyone is invited to come and pledge their walk and join TCC Staff and employees in walking, cycling, or running 5km in support of Men’s Health. If you pledge $30 or more and you will get a free t-shirt!
All kids that finish the route will receive a free bowling and shoe rental from the Roxy Bowling Centre! There will be cool swag for the kids and a moustache hunt along the way.
All funds raised will go to the Movember Foundation!
Moustaches are optional…
