RIDE Check – Vehicle Occupants charged with Open Liquor, Possession & No Licence

In the early evening of November 25, 2016, members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Highway 540 at Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands Township, Ontario.  A tractor trailer was checked, and open liquor was found within the cab.  Following further investigation, a controlled substance was found and the three occupants were arrested.  

James D TRUMBLE, age 50, of Aweres Township, Ontario has been charged with;

  • Possession of cannabis marihuana under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor License Act,
  • Driving a commercial motor vehicle without a license, contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Ryan Richard CHISHOLM, age 33, of Elliot Lake, Ontario has been charged with;

  • Possession of cannabis marihuana under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Craig Randal BURLEY, age 32, of Elliot Lake, Ontario has been charged with;

  • Possession of cannabis marihuana under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The three accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay, Ontario on February 7, 2017.
