Weather – The warm weather continues with today being cloudy with a 60 percent chance of drizzle. The fog is expected to be gone by noon. A high of 3C is expected today. The drizzle may change to rain overnight and then into snow for Tuesday morning.
Roads – Highway 17 is bare and wet from Sault Ste. Marie through to White River. Be aware that with the warm temperatures, the ice buildups on cliffs and rock cuts may fall. Always drive carefully and be aware of your surroundings and road conditions.
For those traveling westward today, OPP is currently investigating a Motor vehicle accident on Highway 17A – 7km past Jones Road involving 3 Tractor Trailers. Unknown injuries at this time. Traffic is being diverted to Highway 17 through Kenora.
Closer to Wawa, actually about 10 kilometres east of the Dubreuilville junction, there are still workers at the scene of yesterday’s transport fire. Workers will be there until the ‘remains’ are removed. Please be careful as you drive in that area.
Local – This is an election year for Michipicoten First Nation. A nomination meeting will be held at MFN Community Centre on January 28th beginning at 9 a.m. There are six councillor positions and one posiiton for chief vacant. The election will be held at the MFN Community Centre on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
