Man fails to stop for Police – charged

On January 31, 2017, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Police activated its emergency lights and the vehicle would not pull over.  Police followed the vehicle onto Woodward Avenue where it finally stopped for police.

As a result Xiao PENG, 30 years of age from Woodbridge, Ontario was charged with:

  • Fail to Stop when signalled or requested to do so by a police officer, contrary to section 216(2) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and
  • Disobey sign, contrary to section 182(2) of the HTA.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on March 29, 2017
