Sault Ste. Marie dog owner Leah Witty couldn’t be more proud of her four legged baby, Kujo, besides being an adorable little dog, he’s also somewhat of a celebrity.
Kujo has been selected for a marketing campaign for Jones Soda Co. a beverage company based in Pioneer Square, Seattle, Washington. It bottles and distributes soft drinks, non-carbonated beverages, energy drinks, and candy. Jones Soda is a carbonated soft drink that has many unusual flavors that are not offered by other soft drink makers.
“It wasn’t a contest it was a submit your photo for a chance to be chosen, I submitted that photo sometime last year so I never thought we’d actually be chosen. To read on the letter they sent me that it was part of the 1% of all photos submitted that have been chosen I though that was pretty exciting.” said Whitty.
“Kujo is quite the character, he’s a big dog in a little dogs body” explained Whitty, “He always poses for pictures its quite funny actually. I’ve had Kujo since he was 8 weeks old, he’s now 2 and a half years old.”
Whitty is thrilled that her little buddy is going to be featured on labels that are distributed globally.
“It’s a very surreal but amazing thing to know my dog is in a marketing campaign for the world to see. I love that he’s on the Canada’s 150th birthday bottle.”
There is no compensation for Kujo and his owner but that doesn’t bother Whitty, “this is just a fun thing. Jones sent me a few labels with his face on it which was very sweet of them, and a kind letter with signatures from everyone there.”
Whitty says people should be able to buy the soft drinks locally, “I believe people locally will be able to buy the soda here, the letter I received states “Now, if you want to find the bottle that has your label on it, check any of the stores where you already buy Jones and maybe it will be there! happy hunting!”
