Arrests made in downtown Toronto shooting that followed Raptors win

Toronto police say multiple arrests have been made following a downtown shooting that occurred as thousands of Raptors fans took to the streets to celebrate the team’s NBA Finals win.

In a statement Friday morning, a police spokeswoman says officers were called to the area of Yonge and Gould streets at 4:17 a.m. Friday.

They say a man was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries, but was conscious and breathing at the time.

Police say the investigation is still underway and they’re asking anyone with information or video from the scene to contact them.

It’s not clear whether the incident was related to the mass celebration that filled the city’s downtown in the aftermath of the Raptors’ historic win.

While most of the massive crowds in Toronto were boisterous but well behaved, others damaged two police cruisers trapped on one street and a transit bus on another.
