On June 12, 2022, shortly after 12:30 p.m., members from the Ontario Provincial Police (Sault Ste Marie) OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (T.I.M.E.) Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (T.I.M.E.) were on patrol duties in the Town of Hilton Beach.
Police observed a pick-up truck turn from Highway 548 onto South Street. The driver who was known to the officer as being suspended from driving conducted a traffic stop.
As a result, John ATKINS, 57 years-of-age from Hilton Beach, was charged with:
- Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code, contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 4, 2022.
The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.
