(GOULAIS TOWNSHIP)- On July 9, 2022, shortly after 11:30 p.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a local community centre in the Town of Goulais River.
Investigation determined security guards were attempting to remove an intoxicated person from the venue that was causing a disturbance. This person then became irate and fought with security guards. While dealing with this individual another person joined the fight and assaulted one of the security guards.
As a result, Benjamin MADONNA, 24 years-of-age from Goulais River, was charged with:
- Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)
Brittany WIEBE, 32 years-of-age Sault Ste Marie, was charged with:
- Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on August 8, 2022.
