Mississauga First Nation Police lays Assault Charge

(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- On July 18, 2022, a member from the Mississauga First Nation Police Service responded to a disturbance on Bonekeosh Street in community of Mississauga First Nation.

Investigation determined an individual with a walking stick attended the community garden and greenhouse construction site and ran towards an employee. Profanities were yelled at the worker. The disturbance escalated to the individual breaking the walking stick near the worker and used one of the broken ends that resembled a dagger to imitate a stabbing motion towards the worker’s facial area.

As a result, Junior DEBASSIGE, 41 years-of-age from Mississauga First Nation was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court in Elliot Lake on September 1, 2022.
