TORONTO — Canada’s main stock exchange was down in late-morning trading as U.S. markets fell
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 45.10 points at 19,531.94.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 119.38 points at 32,607.44. The S&P 500 index was down 16.53 points at 4,135.41, while the Nasdaq composite was down 161.34 points at 12,559.24.
The Canadian dollar traded for 77.26 cents US compared with 77.80 cents US on Thursday.
The September crude contract was up US$1.81 at US$90.35 per barrel and the September natural gas contract was up 5.1 cents at US$8.17.
The December gold contract was down US$14.70 at US$1,792.2 an ounce and the September copper contract was up almost 7 cents at US$3.55 a pound.
