On August 13, 2022 at approximately 9:45 a.m. the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the Espanola General Hospital. Officers were advised that one of the involved vehicles left the scene of the accident.
Police patrolled the area and located the vehicle at a residence on John Street in the Town of Espanola. Officers located the driver matching the description provided by the witnesses. Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered that resulted in a fail and the driver was subsequently arrested.
Caylin MAIN, 33-years-old from Espanola was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on October 24, 2022.
