On August 25, 2022, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a previous stolen vehicle occurrence in Elliot Lake.
On August 17, 2022, at approximately 11:15 p.m. police received a traffic complaint of a black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) operating with no lights on in an erratic manner on Spruce Avenue. The SUV was observed a short time later downtown Elliot Lake, still with no lights on. It failed to stop for police, speeding, and continuing to travel over sidewalks and curbs. The SUV entered a townhouse complex parking lot on Spruce Avenue and the driver fled on food. The driver was known to police and the SUV was previously reported stolen.
Tammy BOWERMAN, 36 years-old, of Elliot Lake was arrested and charged with:
Dangerous Operation, contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Flight From Peace Officer, contrary to section 320.17 of the CC
Theft of Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 333.1 of the CC
Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on August 26, 2022.
