Has winter arrived early? it appears so if you live in White River, Hornepayne or Chapleau.
But don’t worry, a warming trend is developing for later on this week.
Snowfall warning in effect for:
Chapleau – Missinaibi Lake
Snow tapering off this morning.
Hazards:
Further local snowfall amounts of 5 cm today.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
Wind gusts of 60 to 70 km/h may result in local blowing snow.
Timing:
Tapering off later this morning.
Discussion:
A slow moving low pressure system will bring a prolonged period of snowfall to the area. The snowfall should taper off later this morning, and may mix with rain by the afternoon for some locations. Another round of snowfall is possible beginning this evening.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
