The Boys Senior basket-ball team from Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) enjoyed great success at the Arthur Gabor Classic Basketball Tournament held in North Bay on December 3 and 4. The Collège Notre-Dame Alouettes started the tournament on the right foot by defeating École secondaire Odyssée (North Bay) by a score of 73-27 and then Timmins High by a score of 52-32 and were qualified for the championship round.
After a 73-19 victory over Espanola High School, the Alouettes went on to defeat Timmins High by a score of 69-43 in the semi-final round and advanced to the championship game. The CND athletes excelled in this last game by defeating the Lasalle Secondary School Lancers (Sudbury) by a score of 61 to 47. Sébastien Smith was named the tournament’s most valuable player while Beau D’Aoust was selected to the tournament’s all-star team.
Members of the Collège Notre-Dame team include the following players: Logan MacIntyre, Beau D’Aoust, Carter Grenier, Christian Munch, Rylen Forsyth, Sébastien Smith, Dominic Gionet, Alexander Phillips, Hayden Robert, Alex Sabourin, André Patry, Benoit Landry and Nicholas Chartrand. The team is coached by Martin Nadeau.
