OPP CHARGE DRIVER FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP
(ESPANOLA, ON) – On January 14, 2023, at approximately 1:20 p.m. members of the Manitoulin (Espanola) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general law enforcement duties in the Town of Espanola. Police conducted a traffic stop on Spruce Avenue after observing a red vehicle pull out of a parking lot in front of oncoming traffic.
Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined the driver had consumed alcohol and was subsequently arrested.
As a result of the investigation, Briana-Jan ESHKAKOGAN, 24-years-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on February 13, 2023.

MANITOULIN OPP REQUESTING THE PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING MISSING PERSON
(ESPANOLA, ON) – On January 10, 2023, at approximately 10:20 a.m., members from the Manitoulin (Espanola) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing person from Espanola.
Investigation determined that Glenn WARD, 53-years-old, was last seen walking down Queensway Street on December 9, 2022.
WARD is described as:
White, medium build, 6’0″, 210 lbs, blue eyes with brown hair and grey beard.
The OPP and family are concerned for his well-being and asking for the public’s assistance to locate him.
