OPP Lays Multiple Harassment and Mischief Charges

On January 3, 2023, shortly after 10:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to ongoing neighbour disputes on Birchwood Circle in the Town of Blind River.

Investigation determined the complainants were continually being followed, video recorded with the videos posted on social media with derogatory comments from the accused.  One of the complainants had their land surveyed because they were having issues with the accused removing an Ancillary Monuments (survey markers) on several occasions. On another occasion, one of the complainants observed the accused spray paint an inappropriate message on a rock face that was directed at them.

As a result, Joshua Brown, 40 years-of-age from Blind River was charged with:

Criminal Harassment-Repeatedly Follow, Repeatedly Communicate With, Watch or Beset, Threatening Conduct, contrary to section 264(1) of the Criminal Code (CC) (four counts)
Mischief-Obstruct, Interrupts, or Interferes with the Lawful Use, Enjoyment or Operation of Property, contrary to section 430(1)(c) of the CC (two counts)

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on January 30, 2023, and was remanded into custody.
