Yesterday, in anticipation of Groundhog Day to be observed by many on February 2, junior and senior kindergarten students at École Notre-Dame (Hanmer) made bold predictions on how the day will unfold upon the emergence of the groundhog from its burrows. If the sun is out and sky is clear and the groundhog can see its shadow, it will retreat to its den and winter will go on for six more weeks. If the groundhog does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early. The majority of this group of observant École Notre-Dame students predict that the groundhog will come out under a clear sky and will see its shadow.
Les élèves surveillent la sortie de la marmotte
Hier, en prévision du jour de la Marmotte du 2 février, les amis de la maternelle et du jardin de l’école Notre-Dame (Hanmer) ont fait leurs prédictions en prévision de comment la sortie de la marmotte! S’il fait soleil et la marmotte voit son ombre, elle retournera dormir et l’hiver se poursuivra encore pendant six semaines. Si le temps est nuageux et la marmotte ne voit pas son ombre, elle restera dehors, car le printemps arrivera bientôt! La majorité des élèves prédisent que la marmotte sortira sous le soleil et verra son ombre.
