28 year-old Charged, Again, for Entering Vehicles

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 9, 2023, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a known person again in relation to theft from vehicles on Spruce Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On the morning of February 8, 2023, police received numerous complaints from people stating their vehicles were entered overnight and items were stolen from inside. Some complainants had video surveillance footage of the person entering the vehicles. The security camera footage was reviewed and the person was identified. Police also learned that person was just released from custody of January 28, 2023, in relation to similar prior charges.

Cody EVERTON, 28-years-old of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Fail to comply with probation order (four counts), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
  • Trespassing at night (two counts), contrary to section 177 of the CC
  • Attempt, contrary to section 463 of the CC

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on February 10, 2023.
