(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 9, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a possible impaired driver who had left a business on Mountain Road in Elliot Lake.
The complainant reported that an intoxicated male was at the establishment insulting staff and wanting to fight. The male departed in a blue Jeep prior to police arrival. Police located the Jeep a short time later on Westhill Road and a vehicle stop was conducted. As a result, the driver was arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.
Thomas HORVATH, 62 years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs , contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 6, 2023.
