(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two motorists were arrested for impaired driving two days in a row.
On February 21, 2023, at approximately 3:35 p.m., members of the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Highway 17.
A vehicle was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation and the driver was found to be driving impaired.
As a result of the investigation, Gregory MULLAN, 32-years-old from Angus was charged with:
- Operation While Prohibited
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
- Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance
- Insecure Load
- Fail to Mark Overhanging Load
- Possess More than One Licence, and
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
The accused’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
On February 22, 2023, at approximately 10:55 p.m., members of the Manitoulin OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17. A pick-up truck collided with a tractor trailer causing debris to be scattered on the highway. No injuries were reported.
Police attended the scene and upon speaking with the driver of the pick-up truck it was determined that they had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and taken to detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Marc TASSE, 49-years-old from Espanola was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), and
- Dangerous Operation
The accused’s vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Both accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 17, 2023.
