On April 11, 2023, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a third person in relation to possessing and sending intimate images through a social media platform.
The lengthily investigation was originally reported in February of 2023. The complainant reported sharing intimate images with a close friend. Those images were then shared to numerous other people without the consent of the complainant.
Three teenagers were subsequently arrested and charged.
A 15-year-old from Elliot Lake and a 15-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie were charged with:
Makes, prints, publishes or possession for the purpose of publication any child pornography
Imports, distributes, sells or possession for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography
Possession of child pornography
Distribute intimate image without consent
A 16-year-old from Oshawa was charged with:
Make intimate image available without consent
Imports, distributes, sells or possession for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography
Possession of child pornography
Assault (two counts)
All accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 5, 2023.
